47 Elopement Locations In The Southeast Mountains: North Georgia, Blue Ridge, And Smokies

So, you’re dreaming about an elopement in the mountains, but now you’re staring at 47 tabs, 12 saved TikToks, 3 Pinterest boards, and absolutely zero clue where you’re actually supposed to go.

I get it.

The Southeast mountains are jam-packed with some of the best elopement destinations in the U.S. (Yes, I am biased, I do live in Georgia after all!). From those foggy overlooks in the Smokies to waterfall trails in North Georgia, winding Blue Ridge Parkway views, and quiet little ceremony spots that feel like they were made for just the two of you. The Southeast truly doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to the best spots for an elopement in the mountains.

And lucky for you, I spend a wholeeee lot of time trekking through these mountains just about every week. So instead of making you dig through a million different guides, I wanted to create one big roundup of mountain view elopement locations across Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Think of this as your “where the heck should we elope?” starting point.

Some of these locations are perfect for a full-on mountain top elopement. Some are better for couples who want easy access, family nearby, or a ceremony spot that doesn’t require hiking boots. Others are more adventurous, some are more romantic, and some are just plain ridiculous in the best way.

P.S. I recommend saving this blog to your Pinterest planning board so you can easily come back to it later.

47 Best Mountain View Elopement Destinations In the Southeast

Before we dive in, a tiny-but-important note: every location has its own rules, permit requirements, guest limits, accessibility details, and seasonal considerations. So while this list is a great place to start dreaming, you’ll definitely want to check the most updated rules before officially choosing your elopement ceremony location.

And if that sounds overwhelming, that’s exactly where I come in! Read more about how I help you plan your elopement in this post.

Georgia Mountain Elopement Locations

North Georgia is one of the BEST places to elope if you want mountain views without having to travel too far into the middle of nowhere. You’ll find overlooks, waterfalls, state parks, lakes, forest roads, and Appalachian Trail (we have a little over 70 miles of the trail here!) access all within a few hours of Atlanta.

Overall, this region is perfect for couples who want a mountain elopement wedding that feels adventurous, but still very realistic for family, vendors, and a full-day experience.

Check out all of my Georgia elopement planning resources here.

1. Clouldland Canyon

Cloudland Canyon is perfect for couples who want dramatic canyon views, waterfall trails, and a location that feels way more “out west” than you’d expect from Georgia. The main overlook is one of the most accessible ceremony options, while the waterfall trails are great for couples who want more adventurous portraits.

Check out my full Cloudland Canyon elopement guide here.

The views are huge, the air feels different up there, and it’s a great choice for couples who want their ceremony to feel grand and intimate at the same time. Although, I will say, I wouldn’t recommend this location during the summer months, as the bugs are horrendous here.

27. Craggy Gardens

Craggy Gardens is one of the most romantic places to visit along the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially when the rhododendrons are blooming. It’s a gorgeous option for couples who want that soft, whimsical mountain view without a huge hike. I mean… Even the parking lot views are insane!!

How to Choose the Best Place for Your Own Elopement in the Mountains

Before you pick a location, think through:

  • Do you want to hike or keep things easy-access?
  • Are you inviting guests?
  • Do you want mountains, waterfalls, lakes, or forest scenery?
  • Are you dreaming of sunrise, sunset, or a slower full-day timeline?
  • Do you want a location that feels popular and iconic, or quiet and more private?
  • Will you need a permit?
  • Do you want to stay nearby in a cabin, Airbnb, lodge, or small mountain town?

At the end of the day, the best elopement destination isn’t just the prettiest one, it’s the one that actually fits you. Though, anywhere in the Southeast Mountains are guaranteed to be beautiful in their own way.

The best elopement destination is the one where you can breathe, move slowly, take in the view, say your vows without feeling rushed, and simply celebrate in a way that makes sense for your relationship instead of trying to cram yourself into a wedding day that was never really yours to begin with.
