I finally decided it was time for me to write a blog all about the love and admiration that I have for the North Georgia region. If you follow along with me on Instagram, you already know that North Georgia is basically my backyard and also the place where I spend most of my time personally and also professionally. There truly is no shortage of things to do here! What’s So Special About North Georgia?
North Georgia is one of those places in the southeast region that gets overshadowed by the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains. And no hate in those areas, because I genuinely love them too! But, there is something very special about North Georgia that I have yet to place a finger on and I have a feeling you’ll love the area too!
The North Georgia region is located in North Georgia just south of Western North Carolina and East of the Smokies. So, you can imagine with its sistering neighbors, that she’s quite beautiful too!
North Georgia has a beautiful mix of incredible hiking trails (home to the starting trail when hiking North on the Appalachian Trail!), some of the most beautiful waterfalls including its largest in the state, lakes, and mountain views. This area is the perfect spot for adventurous couples that love being outdoors!
4 Areas of North Georgia Worth Knowing About When Planning Your Elopement
Because North Georgia is filled with so many different vibes throughout the region, I have dedicated a few areas to be featured to give you a feel of what all to expect when you visit/are planning your elopement here.
1. Blue Ridge
Blue Ridge, GA is known in the community as a quiet mountain town filled with trails, waterfalls, and lots of trout streams. There is a beautiful mix of southern hospitality meets “we’re just a little over an hour outside of Atlanta” energy here. Plus, this area is suuper close to Elijay, GA as well so we can always pop over to that mountain town as well.

Known as the heart of the Georgia mountains, Dahlonega is one of my favorite places to visit year round. If you are a fan of wineries, gold mining, history, golfing, and really anything you could think of doing outdoors, Dahlonega is the place.

Clayton is one of those small mountain towns that easily get missed, but that’s (in my opinion), why it’s the perfect place to elope! Clayton is known for being the farm-to-table capital in the state, and is one of the most popular areas to visit when traveling to Georgia’s highest peak in the Black Rock Mountain State Park.

What makes Helen so special is that it doesn’t feel like you’re in Georgia at all. In 1969 this little town was transformed into a Bavarian alpine village and still carries that German heritage with it today.
